Silistar Beach is a sheltered bay with clear blue waters, fine pale sand and forested hills reaching almost to the shore. Its enclosed shape can reduce exposure to wind and waves, while <\/span>the depth increases gradually<\/b>. The sandy beach is approximately one kilometre long and provides plenty of space for swimming and relaxation.<\/span><\/p>

Rocky headlands covered with dense vegetation rise at both ends of the bay, while the green hills of Strandzha frame it from the land. Silistar has been a protected area since 1992 and lies within <\/span>Strandzha Nature Park and the Natura 2000 network<\/b>. It is among the southernmost protected coastal areas on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, where several habitats meet: dunes, river mouth, wetland and forest.<\/span><\/p>

In January 2026, <\/span>the boundaries of the protected area were expanded<\/b>, while its existing conservation regimes remained applicable. During the summer season, one part of the beach may offer paid umbrellas, sunbeds or wooden shade structures, together with a small outlet for drinks and snacks. Visitors can also use a<\/span> large free beach area with their own equipment. The precise layout and available services may change, while outside the main season visitors should be prepared for <\/span>limited or no operating beach facilities<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

Swimming and Snorkelling<\/b><\/h3>

Before entering the sea, visitors should check the current conditions, warning flags and posted notices and follow any available lifeguard instructions.<\/span><\/p>

The clear water near the rocks can be suitable for snorkelling. Visitors should nevertheless <\/span>keep away from underwater caves and areas affected by changing currents<\/b>, where whirlpools may occur.<\/span><\/p>

Walking, photography and coastal hiking<\/b><\/h3>

The area around the forest edge, river mouth and headlands offers opportunities for walking, photography and scenic views. Visitors should <\/span>remain on established paths<\/b>, wear shoes with good grip and avoid approaching unstable slopes or cliff edges for photographs.<\/span><\/p>

Experienced walkers may also explore the coastal route between Silistar and Kastrich Bay. It crosses forest, grassland and exposed coastal terrain. <\/span>Parts of the route may be overgrown, and phone coverage may be poor<\/b>. Check whether access is permitted, use current route information and carry water and offline navigation.<\/span><\/p>

Camping near Silistar\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>

There is an organised campsite near the entrance to the bay<\/b>, but visitors should confirm its current opening dates, capacity and available services before travelling.
